Ukrainian foreign ministry says unaware of causes of blast at Iranian defense facility
On Sunday, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidential administration head, once again accused Iran of supplying drones to the combat operations zone in Ukraine and indirectly recognized Kiev’s involvement in Saturday’s drone attack in Isfahan
KIEV, January 30. /TASS/. Ukraine’s foreign ministry has no information about the causes of the explosion at an Iranian defense ministry facility in Isfahan, the ministry’s spokesman, Oleg Nikolenko, said on Monday.
On Sunday, Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidential administration head, once again accused Iran of supplying drones to the combat operations zone in Ukraine and indirectly recognized Kiev’s involvement in Saturday’s drone attack in Isfahan. "Explosive night in Iran - drone & missile production, oil refineries. Ukraine did warn you," he wrote on his Twitter account. Following this tweet, the Iranian foreign ministry summoned the Ukrainian ambassador for an explanation of Podolyak’s remarks, according to the Tasnim news agency.
"We don’t know the reason for the explosions at Iranian facilities," Nikolenko wrote on his Facebook (outlawed in Russia as belonging to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia) account.
The IRNA news agency reported on Sunday night that a powerful explosion rocked the city of Isfahan in central Iran. Later, the Iranian defense ministry said that a drone attack had been attempted on one of its centers on Saturday. One drone was downed and the other two hit defensive traps and exploded. No one was hurt and minor damage was incurred. However, Tehran did not say who it thought was responsible for the attack.
