Trump on Ukraine conflict: 'If I were President, I’d be able to negotiate end in 24 hours'
The former US president earlier called for negotiating a peaceful end to it instead of sending millions of dollars worth of assistance to Kiev
NEW YORK, January 27. /TASS/. Former US president Donald Trump said he would be able to negotiate a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours, if he were president.
"Even now, if [US] president, I would be able to negotiate an end to this horrible war <...> within 24 hours," Trump wrote on his Truth Social on Thursday.
Commenting on the Biden administration’s approach to the conflict in Ukraine, Trump earlier called for negotiating a peaceful end to it instead of sending millions of dollars worth of assistance to Kiev. Trump also warned that "we will end up in World War III" because of US actions.
On Thursday, Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said that the US administration was ready to ease sanctions against Russia for the sake of serious negotiations on Ukraine. Nuland emphasized that she would support the easing of sanctions, if Russia returned territory to Kiev. In response, Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the international committee of the Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament), described Nuland’s message as unacceptable to Moscow as he said there was no reversing historical decisions in exchange for a promised revision of the restrictions.
