West threatens to stop EU integration, withdraw investments from Serbia — Vucic
The cancellation of the visa-free regime between Serbia and the EU would become a matter of one week, as well as the withdrawal of investments from Serbia, Serbian President said
BELGRADE, January 24. /TASS/. The West threatens to stop the process of Serbia’s European integration, cessation of investments and sanctions, if Belgrade does not accept the new "French-German" plan of negotiations with Pristina, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in his address to the nation Monday.
"It was said: you must accept this plan [of negotiations with Pristina], and if you do not accept it in its entirety - and, de facto, these are the new negotiation frameworks - you will face, first, stoppage of the European integration process; second, stoppage and withdrawal of investments; and third, comprehensive political and economic measures that will inflict great damage to the Republic of Serbia. That was a quote," Vucic said.
"The cancellation of the visa-free regime between Serbia and the EU would become a matter of one week. As well as the withdrawal of investments from Serbia," Vucic reiterated.
Earlier, the Serbian leader stated that the level of direct foreign investments to the Serbian economy in 2021 stood at record-high 3.9 billion euro, exceeding 4 billion euro in 2022. According to Vucic, the reasons behind the record-high level of investments are macroeconomic stability, favorable business climate and agreements on free trade with other countries.
