Russia’s COVID-19 case tally grows by 4,719 — crisis center

As many as 362 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down from 427 a day earlier

MOSCOW, January 23./TASS/. Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 4,719 over the past day versus 5,729 a day earlier, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 21,898,876, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Monday.

As many as 362 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, down from 427 a day earlier (15.2-percent decline). The number of hospitalized patients grew in 22 regions and declined in 38, while in 25 regions the figure remained the same.

Meanwhile, Russia’s COVID-19 recoveries rose by 3,640 over the past day against 4,021 a day earlier, reaching 21,310,166 overall, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters. As many as 41 coronavirus patients died in Russia in the past day, the same as reported on Sunday, bringing the overall figure of coronavirus fatalities to 394,735, it added.

Moscow’s COVID-19 cases grew by 1,241 against 1,755 a day earlier, reaching 3,331,345, according to the anti-coronavirus crisis center. Twelve coronavirus patients died and 1,128 recovered in the past day, it said. St. Petersburg’s COVID-19 cases increased by 664 over the past day against 671 a day earlier, totaling 1,839,352. Eight coronavirus patients died in Russia’s second biggest city in the past 24 hours, and 562 patients have recovered.
