Zelensky says Ukrainian forces were ordered to build up reserves of servicemen

According to the President of Ukraine, this is necessary to provide military personnel with rest to recuperate

KIEV, January 23. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Sunday said the command of the country’s armed forces had been ordered to build up the reserves of servicemen so that troops could be rotated out of hostilities for rest and leisure.

"The task that was set for the military is that they shouldn’t just bring in more people, but make sure there are reserves so people could recover their strength," he said in a video of his meeting with university students and teachers in Kiev, which he posted to Telegram.

He said he couldn’t divulge exactly how the "mobilization processes" are organized to achieve that purpose, but stated, "They are taking place, they must happen, we need them very much."

Ukrainian news media earlier published reports that military conscription officers were handing out conscription notices to men in the streets, often using force. Zelensky ordered a general military mobilization in the country on February 25, 2022.
