NATO says countries should decide on their own on tank deliveries to Ukraine
"It is a sovereign decision," chair of the alliance's Military Committee Rob Bauer pointed out
MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Chair of the NATO Military Committee Rob Bauer said on Friday that the alliance’s member states should make an independent decision on tank supplies to Ukraine.
"It is a sovereign decision by a sovereign state, which Germany is," Reuters quoted him as saying. The official added that the NATO countries should review Ukraine’s requests and fulfill them if possible.
On January 20, another meeting of defense ministers from approximately 50 countries was held at Germany’s USAF Ramstein Air Base where further aid to Kiev was discussed. Following the meeting, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius told the Phoenix TV channel that its participants had not yet made any decision on delivering German-made Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
