Ukraine seeks shipments of Western jet fighters, long-range missiles — Foreign Minister
Dmitry Kuleba pointed out the recent Western statements regarding the shipment of tanks to Ukraine
KIEV, January 19. /TASS/. Ukrainian authorities were able to unblock shipments of all types of weapons from the West, except for planes and long-range missiles, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said, speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos Thursday.
Kuleba admitted that Kiev‘s talks with Western countries on arms shipments take more time than Kiev would like.
"Yes, it takes time and yes, we would like it not to take so much time, so that our partners make a decision, but, in the end, we receive everything that we ask for, except for two things that have not been unblocked in principle yet - Western jet fighters and long-range missiles. Everything else has been unblocked in one way or another," the Foreign Minister said, according to Ukrainian media.
He pointed out the recent Western statements regarding the shipment of tanks to Ukraine.
"We see things speeding up. When we unblock long-range missiles and planes - I am totally certain - our spectrum of the most required weapons will be complete," Kuleba believes.
On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said at the WEF that Western states must ramp up their weapons aid to Kiev. According to Zelensky, Kiev requires air defense systems and tanks, first of all. The president also called to speed up the process of NATO expansion.
