Trump says Facebook lost $700 bln since his deplatforming
The former US president noted that the Internet platforms "need us more than we need them"
NEW YORK, January 19. /TASS/. Former US President Donald Trump believes that Meta Corporation (recognized as extremist in Russia), which owns Facebook (outlawed in Russia), has lost about $700 billion after his page was blocked.
Facebook has "lost $700 billion since I was de-platformed. <...>. It has been considered a major business mistake for them, Twitter, and others. <...> But they need us more than we need them," he told Fox News on Wednesday.
NBC previously reported that Trump was going to return his Facebook and Twitter accounts ahead of the US presidential election in 2024. Trump announced on November 15 that he would be running for president again.
The tycoon-turned-politician was banned from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (outlawed in Russia) during his final weeks as US president. This came shortly after supporters of the then Trump administration sought to overturn the Congress’ certification of the November 2020 presidential election results on January 6, 2021. The ex-president’s Twitter page was restored in November 2022.
