European Commission president urges to give Ukraine all weapons that it can use

GENEVA, January 18. /TASS/. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen hopes that ‘a big move forward’ will be made during a meeting of the contact group on Ukraine at the Ramstein air base in Germany on January 20, and urges to provide the Kiev government with all weapons "that it can handle."

"The European Union does not have any military capability, but I’ve said from the onset <…> that Ukraine should get all the military equipment it needs and can handle. And this also includes advanced systems. So I hope very much that [during a meeting] in Ramstein, I think it’s on the 20th of January, there will be a big move forward, and the decision taken that is so necessary," she told CNN on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

She also said the European Union has already approved a package of macroeconomic assistance to Ukraine, totaling 18 billion euro.
