Serbia thanks Russia for principled position on Kosovo
The Serbian official informed the Russian diplomat "about the development of the situation in Kosovo, especially in light of Pristina’s recent unilateral illegal actions and security threats to the Serbian people"
BELGRADE, January 17. /TASS/. Petar Petkovic, director of the Serbian government’s office for Kosovo and Metohija, has thanked Russia for its firm position on the Kosovo problem, the Russian embassy in Serbia said on Tuesday after his meeting with Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko.
"Belgrade has fulfilled all of its obligations whereas the Pristina side has been refusing to implement the agreements on the establishment of a Community of Serb Municipalities and other accords for nearly ten years," the embassy said. "He (Petar Petkovic - TASS) thanked the Russian ambassador for his principled position and support for Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and for implementing [UNSC] resolution 1244."
The Serbian official informed the Russian diplomat "about the development of the situation in Kosovo, especially in light of Pristina’s recent unilateral illegal actions and security threats to the Serbian people," it said.
Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said earlier that the Brussels agreements between Belgrade and Pristina were a sham, as were the Minsk agreements on Ukraine.
Under the April 19, 2013 Brussels agreements on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, the Community of Serb Municipalities, a self-governing body of the Serbs living in Kosovo, is to be established in the unrecognized republic. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has repeatedly said that his country has implemented its part of the Brussels agreements whereas the Kosovars only started to draft the Community’s charter and then suspended the process.
