Kiev’s energy infrastructure could fail any moment — city mayor
The Kiev mayor added that electricity shortage in Kiev is now about 30% of consumption
GENEVA, January 17. /TASS/. Kiev’s energy infrastructure could fail any moment as Russia has the capability to strike critical infrastructure, city Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said on Monday in an interview with Reuters.
"We aren’t talking about a collapse but it could happen any second as Russian missiles can destroy our critical infrastructure in the city of Kiev and not just there, but also in other cities," he said on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, the news service reported.
The Kiev mayor added that electricity shortage in Kiev is now about 30% of consumption.
Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko said earlier that energy facilities were damaged in the Kiev, Vinnitsa, Ivano-Frankovsk, Lvov and Kharkov regions, as well as in the Kiev-controlled part of the Zaporozhye Region. Most Ukrainian regions introduced emergency power cuts.
