No strikes on Zaporozhye nuclear power plant since beginning of 2023 — official
According to Renat Karchaa, strikes are delivered on the industrial zone, infrastructure facilities and on facilities on the shoreline
MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. The units of the Ukrainian army have not shelled the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant since the year began and Ukrainian strikes have been registered only in Energodar’s industrial zone and along the shoreline, Renat Karchaa, adviser to the chief executive of Russia’s Rosenergoatom nuclear power plant operator said on Monday.
"Generally, strikes are delivered on the industrial zone, infrastructure facilities, on facilities on the shoreline. There have been no strikes on the nuclear station directly during the entire period after New Year’s Day," he told Channel One.
Located in Energodar, the Zaporozhye nuclear facility, having roughly 6GW of capacity, is the largest of its kind in Europe. Russia took control of the plant on February 28, 2022, in the first days of its special military operation in Ukraine. The power station has continued its regular operation. Since then, the units of the Ukrainian army have been periodically shelling both Energodar’s residential districts and the premises of the nuclear station, using drones, heavy artillery and multiple-launch rocket systems.
