Belarus is ready "to thwart any provocation and any terrorist threat, wherever it may come from", First Deputy Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Pavel Muraveiko said

MINSK, January 15. /TASS/. Minsk’s attempts to establish dialogue with Ukrainian border and defense officials are yielding no result, First Deputy Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Pavel Muraveiko said on Sunday.

"Dialogue between border officials is being conducted, but, regrettably, it doesn’t yield positive results. We also had communication between the military - to no avail either," he said in an interview with the STV television channel.

According to Muraveiko, Belarus is ready "to thwart any provocation and any terrorist threat, wherever it may come from."

"We see all actions, including inadequate ones, when these units formed on the territory of Ukraine are shooting in the direction of our border, violating our border, staging various provocations. We see this and record such cases," he said.

Chief of Belarus’ State Border Committee Anatoly Lappo said earlier that the presence of unidentified armed persons without insignia on the Ukrainian side of the border with Belarus poses threats.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said earlier that Ukraine had pulled up to 15,000 troops to the border with Belarus. Lappo said in mid-November 2022 that Ukrainian forces had blown up "practically bridges in the Gomel and Mozyr directions" and "are beginning to undermine bridged in the Volyn direction." Prior to it, the Belarusian State Border Committee said it had reinforced border protection.
