EU frustrated at Washington’s energy policies — newspaper

European leaders worry that Washington’s measures are straining Europe’s manufacturing base

NEW YORK, November 30. /TASS/. European countries are starting to express frustration at new US energy policies which they say compound their economic woes, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

According to the newspaper, ties between Europe and the US "are starting to fray" over the latter’s energy policies. European leaders worry that Washington’s measures are straining Europe’s manufacturing base.

In particular, European countries complain that US liquified natural gas shipments have come at higher prices than Russian energy and this casts a shadow on relations between the EU and Washington. Europe’s economic and political concerns are expected to top the agenda of French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Washington, according to the newspaper.

On Tuesday, Macron departed on a four-day official state visit for Washington where he will hold talks with US President Joe Biden. Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the National Security Council in the White House John Kirby announced earlier that the French leader and US Vice President Kamala Harris would visit the NASA headquarters later on Wednesday. Macron is scheduled to meet Biden on Thursday.
