EU fails to create own energy market, to buy US gas at bloated prices

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said that both Russia and the United States are "two great and unconquerable powers"

BELGRADE, November 29. /TASS/. The European Union has failed to create its own energy market and will now have to buy US gas at bloated prices, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic said on Tuesday.

"Energy is a key problem at the moment, and in general. The European Union has long held illusions about creating some kind of energy market but amid the serious military operation it has come to a point where the EU will have to buy gas from its ally, the United States, at three times the price," Croatia’s national television HRT quoted him as saying at the opening of an economic forum in Zagreb.

He noted that both Russia and the United States are "two great and unconquerable powers." "They are unconquerable because they have certain technologies <…> and unlimited energy for their needs," he said, adding that this is why French President Emmanuel Macron had headed to the United States "to ask, from the position of a weaker partner, for understanding and mercy."

The economic forum was organized by the Slovenian-Croatian Business Club and Slovenia’s embassy in Croatia as part of Slovenian President Borut Pahor’s visit to Croatia.
