Biden discusses aid to Ukraine and Taiwan with South Korean and Japanese leaders
In addition, he said that the sides touched on a number of other topics, including strengthening supply chains and maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait
PHNOM PENH, November 13. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden discussed with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and South Korean leader Yoon Suk-yeol expanding "coordinated support" for Ukraine, the US leader reported on Sunday after a trilateral summit in Phnom Penh, according to Reuters.
In addition, he said that the sides touched on a number of other topics, including strengthening supply chains and maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
At the meeting, which, according to Japanese media reports, lasted 12 minutes, the sides also agreed to work toward "common goals of a free and open Indo-Pacific". This concept, which is sometimes contrasted with China's Belt and Road Initiative, is actively promoted by the US, Japan and their allies.·The previous trilateral summit of the US, South Korea and Japan was held in late July on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Spain. The parties note the significance of the current meeting in view of the dramatic increase in North Korean missile launches in recent months.
