Biden to urge his G20 summit colleagues to speak out against Russia’s operation in Ukraine

President will attend the G20 Summit where he’ll focus on a range of pressing global economic challenges, especially for emerging and vulnerable economies, including energy security and the clean energy transition, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said

WASHINGTON, November 11. /TASS/. During the forthcoming summit of the Group of Twenty (G20), US President Joe Biden will call upon delegates from other countries to condemn Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan has told reporters.

"On Tuesday and Wednesday, the President will attend the G20 Summit where he’ll focus on a range of pressing global economic challenges, especially for emerging and vulnerable economies, including energy security and the clean energy transition, food security, debt relief for low-and middle-income countries, multilateral development bank reform, and the launch of a pandemic preparedness fund," the US official said.

Sullivan went on to say that Biden would also "rally likeminded nations to speak out forcefully" against Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, which, in his opinion, "has exacerbated many of these challenges."

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that, in response to a request from the Donbass republics, he made a decision to carry out a special military operation in Ukraine. He underscored that Moscow does not plan to occupy Ukrainian territories, instead planning to demilitarize and denazify the country. In response, the West started introducing sweeping sanctions against Russia and shipping weapons and military vehicles to Kiev already worth tens of billions of dollars at this point.
