Vucic reveals NATO drones caught spying on Serbia near border with Kosovo
On Tuesday, President Vucic issued an order to destroy all enemy UAVs in central Serbia’s airspace
BELGRADE, November 3. /TASS/. NATO sent an onslaught of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) tracking Serbia’s activities near the border between Kosovo and Metohija, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday.
"We have been keeping track of them and they barraged some 200-500 meters from the administrative line, but from the other side," Vucic said as he visited his country’s large-scale ‘Maneuvers 2022’ military drills.
"NATO is following all the required procedures, we identified them [UAVs] yet had no right to shoot them down according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244," Vucic continued adding that a recently downed enemy drone earlier in the week was a warning that the country would never acquiesce to being spied on.
"Do you want the army to let someone spy on their barracks? So that someone can enter the hangars, count how many bullets, bombs, mines and grenades we have in Central Serbia," the leader argued.
The Serbian Armed Forces shot down an enemy drone on Wednesday in the country's airspace reporting in the following statement that "the drone was shot down using electronic warfare means in close vicinity to the military facilities of the Raska garrison."
On Tuesday, President Vucic issued an order to destroy all enemy UAVs in central Serbia’s airspace.
Also on Tuesday, the Serbian Armed Forces were put on high alert due to the situation in Kosovo and Metohija. Serbian Defense Minister Milos Vucevic explained that the situation in Kosovo and Metohija was tense, and that the Kosovars began carrying out a resolution to ban Serbian license plates. No one wants to fight, but "the army is ready to perform any task," the defense minister emphasized.
