IAEA finds no indications of undeclared nuclear activities at Ukrainian facilities
"IAEA inspectors have completed in-field verification activities at three locations in Ukraine at the request of the Ukrainian government - found no indications of undeclared nuclear activities and materials," the agency agency said in a statement on Twitter
VIENNA, November 3. /TASS/. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) found no indications of undeclared nuclear activities at three Ukrainian facilities, the agency said in a statement on Twitter on Thursday.
"IAEA inspectors have completed in-field verification activities at three locations in Ukraine at the request of the Ukrainian government - found no indications of undeclared nuclear activities and materials," the tweet reads.
In late October, Chief of Russia’s Radiation, Chemical and Biological Protection Troops Lieutenant-General Igor Kirillov told a news briefing that the Defense Ministry had put its forces and resources in a state of readiness for action "in a situation of radioactive contamination" based on intel about Kiev’s plot for using a "dirty" nuclear bomb. This threat was also mentioned by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the issue was raised by Russia at the UN Security Council. In particular, Russia listed the Ukrainian facilities where such activities might be taking place. Following Moscow’s move to release the information Kiev asked the IAEA to send its inspectors to those facilities.
