In that case, the water will rise up to 1.5 meters, Vladimir Saldo said

KHERSON, October 26. /TASS/. It is practically impossible to blow up the entire dam of the Kakhovskaya Hydro Power Plant at once, the acting governor of the Kherson Region, Vladimir Saldo, said on Wednesday.

"It is unlikely that the entire dam will be destroyed. <...> However, such a danger does exist. We must take this into account. The water will not rise. Everything has to be blown up instantly for that to happen. Then it will be like a tsunami. The water will rise up to 1.5 meters," the acting governor said.

"It will bring a lot of problems to those areas that lie low against the river level. All of Kherson is on the right bank - even five meters doesn’t pose a threat for it," Saldo told the Crimea-24 TV channel. Authorities of the Kherson Region will continue to increase the rate of draining water from the Kakhovskaya HPP dam, he added.

On October 19, Saldo told journalists that Ukrainian troops were shelling the hydro power plant on a regular basis with the aim of destroying its locks. He said the region’s residents living on the right bank would be evacuated to the left bank of the Dnieper due to the threat of flooding.
