Epidemic situation in Russia’s new territories stable, affirms chief sanitary doctor
Anna Popova noted that the concerns of the WHO Regional Office for Europe in this regard were unfounded
MOSCOW, October 26. /TASS/. The epidemic situation throughout the Russian Federation’s new territories remains stable and over there branches of Russia's Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) are being set up, the federal agency’s head Anna Popova reported on Wednesday.
"Today, the formation [of departments] is in progress and colleagues, despite the signs that are still there and somewhere are already being changed, work around the clock and as you see, the epidemic situation in these areas remains stable," she said at the 12th All-Russian Scientific and Practical Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists and Parasitologists and the 13th All-Russian Conference of Hygienists and Public Health Doctors.
Popova noted that the concerns of the WHO Regional Office for Europe in this regard were unfounded.
Referendums on becoming part of Russia were held in the Donetsk and the Lugansk People's Republics, as well as in the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions from September 23 to 27. The overwhelming majority of the population voted in favor of joining Russia. The signing ceremony for the agreements on the regions' accession to the Russian Federation was held on September 30 in the Grand Kremlin Palace’s St. George Hall. On October 4, Putin ratified the accession treaties of the abovementioned territories to Russia.
