Narrative of investigation at Nord Streams being spun to blame Russia — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov reiterated that the incident at the Nord Stream pipelines was sabotage
MOSCOW, October 18. /TASS/. The investigation into the sabotage at the Nord Stream pipelines is being twisted to make Russia responsible, which is absurd, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.
"According to statements that we hear from Germany, from France, from Denmark, this investigation is a priori adjusted to lay responsibility on Russia. That is absurd," he said.
"The data that our intelligence has, this has already been stated, indicates the opposite. Moreover, of course, you just need to use elementary logic to understand that such sabotage causes great damage to Russian interests," Peskov added.
The Kremlin official reiterated that the incident at the Nord Stream pipelines was sabotage. "The fact that this is sabotage, that such destruction could occur only as a result of very powerful explosions - our special services immediately said that. Moreover, this was immediately said by specialists who are directly involved in the operation and know all the technical properties of this pipeline system. Therefore, this is not news," Peskov said, commenting on statements by Swedish and German media that the explosions on the gas pipelines were sabotage.
Four leaks were discovered on the Nord Stream gas link, with the most recent one pinpointed by Sweden’s coast guard. Earlier, the Nord Stream AG company reported that three threads of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 offshore gas pipelines had suffered unprecedented damage on September 26. Swedish seismologists later revealed that two explosions had been recorded along the Nord Stream pipelines on September 26. After that, investigators of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case on an act of international terrorism in connection with the explosions.
