Total US military aid to Kiev has reached $16.8 billion since the start of Russia's special military operation
WASHINGTON, October 15. /TASS/. US President Joe Biden has ordered to allocate additional military aid of up to $725 million to Ukraine, the White House press service said in a statement released on Friday.
The document said that Biden "delegated to the Secretary of State <...> to direct the drawdown of up to $725 million in defense articles and services of the Department of Defense, and military education and training, to provide assistance to Ukraine".
As Reuters earlier reported, the US will give Ukraine ammunition and armored vehicles as part of a new $725 million military aid package. According to the agency, the package will include armored Humvee SUVs. Reuters noted that the package did not include weapons systems that would help Ukraine repel missile attacks.
US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Wednesday that total US military aid to Kiev has reached $16.8 billion since the start of Russia's special military operation.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a special military operation in Ukraine following a request for assistance from the leaders of the Donbass republics. After that, the US, the EU, the UK, as well as a number of other countries imposed sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities. In addition, Western countries began to supply arms and military equipment to Kiev worth billions of dollars at this stage.
