Kazakhstan reviewing candidacy of Ukraine’s new ambassador, MFA says

The Kazakh diplomat also said the tone of Maria Zakharova’s comment on the Ukrainian ambassador "contrasts with the nature of the relations between Kazakhstan and Russia as equal strategic partners"

ASTANA, October 5. /TASS/. The candidacy of Ukraine’s new ambassador to Astana is currently being reviewed by the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, Spokesman Aybek Smadiyarov said on Wednesday.

"A request has so far been received from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to appoint a new envoy to Astana," he said, adding that Kazakhstan had a full understanding with Ukraine on that issue.

The Kazakh diplomat also said the tone of Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the Ukrainian ambassador "contrasts with the nature of the relations between Kazakhstan and Russia as equal strategic partners." The Kazakh Foreign Ministry will summon the Russian envoy later on Wednesday, Smadiyarov warned.
