US, South Korea fire four missiles following North Korea’s launch — Yonhap

According to the South Korean news agency’s report, the United States and South Korea each fired two Army Tactical Missile System guided missiles

MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. The US and South Korean military fired four ground-to-ground missiles towards the Sea of Japan on Wednesday following North Korea’s presumed launch of a Hwasong-12 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Tuesday, the Yonhap news agency said.

According to the South Korean news agency’s report, the United States and South Korea each fired two Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) guided missiles.

On Tuesday, North Korea launched a missile that flew above northern Japan’s Aomori prefecture and fell in the Pacific Ocean outside of Japan’s exclusive economic zone. It was the first North Korean missile flying above Japan’s territory since September 2017. The presumed travel distance of the ballistic missile - about 4,600 km - is believed to be the largest in the history of North Korean tests. The missile fell about 3,200 km away from the Japanese coast. It was North Korea’s 23rd missile test this year.

The United States requested to hold a UN Security Council meeting on North Korea’s missile tests on October 5.
