Czech parliament committee heads support EU visa ban for Russians — radio
Such measures should be included into the list of EU sanctions against Russia, lawmakers said
PRAGUE, August 21. /TASS/. Pavel Fischer and Marek Zenisek, heads of foreign affairs committees of upper and lower houses of the Czech parliament, support the European Union’s ban on issue of Schengen visas to Russians, Cesky Rozhlas radio station said.
Such measures should be included into the list of EU sanctions against Russia, lawmakers said.
"Provision of Schengen visas to Russians must be stopped. The right to apply to EU countries for support and international protection should be kept for Russian nationals requiring them," Fischer said, cited by the radio station.
The Czech Republic halted visas issue to Russians on February 24 until April 2023, with the exception for humanitarian considerations.
The termination of Schengen visas issuance for Russians is expected to be discussed by the EU foreign ministers on August 30-31.
