Ukraine is part of European family, but its EU path holds many conditions, Scholz says

Ukraine’s EU integration was "the main topic" of his visit to Kiev last week, the German Chancellor informed

BERLIN, June 22. /TASS/. Ukraine is part of the European family, but its citizens are aware that the process of EU integration carries multiple conditions, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Wednesday.

"Ukraine belongs to the European family," he said at the Bundestag. "At the EU summit I will be appealing to everyone to say ‘yes’ [to granting Ukraine candidate status]."

In addition, Scholz said that Ukraine’s EU integration was "the main topic" of his visit to Kiev last week.

"The Ukrainians know for themselves that their path to the EU holds many conditions, but they want to go that way," the chancellor added.
