KIEV, June 16. /TASS/. Western countries have agreed not to give Ukraine tanks and assault aircraft in a bid to avoid a military confrontation with Russia, French President Emmanuel Macron told Ukrainian reporters on a visit to Kiev on Thursday.

"You are talking about an unofficial agreement, but this is almost the official position of NATO partners that we are helping Ukraine to defend itself, but we are not going to war with Russia. Therefore, an agreement was reached not to supply certain weapons, such as attack aircraft or tanks, and [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky is aware of this agreement," Macron was quoted as saying by the Ukrinform news service.
