Zelensky cautions against Germany’s balancing act between Kiev and Moscow

Vladimir Zelensky also noted that Germany was late in supplying weapons to Ukraine

BERLIN, June 14. /TASS/. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government should assure Ukraine of its support, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said in an interview with Germany’s ZDF television, cautioning Berlin against balancing between Kiev and Moscow.

"We need Chancellor Scholz to assure us of his support for Ukraine. He and his government must come to a decision: he shouldn’t try to sit on the fence, balancing between Ukraine and relations with Russia. Instead, he needs to choose what to prioritize," the leader said.

Zelensky also noted that Germany was late in supplying weapons to Ukraine. "This is not rhetoric, this is a fact," he said.

Scholz has repeatedly voiced support for the Kiev authorities and also condemned Russia’s military special operation, backing the EU’s sanctions. Germany is providing weapons and financial support to Ukraine.
