Ukraine needs about 300 multiple-launch rocket systems - adviser
The official said that at the moment, about 90% of his country's combat losses are caused by Russian artillery, which is considerably superior to that of Ukraine
LONDON, June 12. /TASS/. The Ukrainian authorities would like to obtain about 300 multiple-launch rocket systems from Western countries, an advisor to the head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Mikhail Podolyak, has told The Telegraph.
The official said that at the moment, about 90% of his country's combat losses are caused by Russian artillery, which is considerably superior to that of Ukraine.
Earlier, The Times reported that the United Kingdom would send three M270 multiple-launch rocket systems, at least as an initial delivery. The United States, in turn, would deliver no more than 10 systems of this kind to Ukraine.
UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace announced in early June that London would send Kiev M270 rocket systems with munitions capable of striking targets at a distance of up to 80 km. The decision was synchronized with the delivery of US M142 HIMARS systems and ammunition to Kiev. The US administration earlier said that the first batch would include four rocket systems while the strike range of a light wheeled HIMARS that would be handed over to Kiev would not exceed 80 km.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine following a request from the heads of the Donbass republics. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans to occupy Ukrainian territories and the goal was to demilitarize and denazify the country. In response, the West imposed major sanctions on Russia. In addition, Western countries started to provide weapons and military equipment to Kiev, whose total value is currently estimated in billions of dollars.
