Japan states concerns to Russia, China over joint aviation pass near its borders — report

TOKYO, May 24. /TASS/. Japanese authorities expressed their serious concerns to Russia and China over the joint pass of military aviation of the two countries near Japanese borders, Kyodo reported Tuesday.

According to Japanese Ministry of Defense, six bombers of Russian Aerospace Forces and Chinese Air Force carried out joint passages from the Sea of Japan towards the Pacific Ocean, as well as towards East China Sea.

Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry announced that a group of Russian Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers and Chinese Xian H-6K strategic bombers carried out air patrol in the Sea of Japan and East China Sea. The Ministry underscored that the patrol took place within the framework of the plan of military cooperation for 2022 and is not aimed against third countries.

Previously, Japan repeatedly expressed its concerns over Russian and Chinese activities near its borders. In particular, Japanese Foreign Ministry expressed serious concerns over the joint Russian-Chinese air patrols over the Sea of Japan and East China Sea that took place in November last year. Japan repeatedly underscored that it closely follows Russian and Chinese military activities near its borders and the Russian-Chinese military cooperation.
