Further talks with Ukraine depend on Kiev, says Russian lawmaker

Earlier, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that Ukraine has kept changing its position

MOSCOW, May 20. /TASS/. The resumption of talks between Russia and Ukraine depends on Kiev, said a Russian lawmaker and member of the delegation to the talks.

"I am not ruling out the resumption of the negotiating process," said Leonid Slutsky, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party faction in the State Duma. "Now it depends on Ukrainian negotiators."

The talks lack dynamics, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on May 4. Kiev has kept changing its position, he said, adding that Ukraine’s inconsistency would not allow it to achieve results at the talks.

President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, noting that the operation was aimed at the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine.
