Lavrov, WHO chief focus on health situation in Ukraine, Donbass — Foreign Ministry
The Russian side presented specific facts about the causes of the humanitarian crisis, the statement reads
MOSCOW, May 18. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus focused on the health situation in Ukraine and Donbass in their phone conversation on Wednesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"They particularly focused on the conflict situations that have a negative effect on the health needs of civilians, especially in Africa and the Middle East. They also touched upon the health situation in Ukraine and Donbass. The Russian side presented specific facts about the causes of the humanitarian crisis, which emerged as a result of the 2014 anti-constitutional coup and the Kiev regime’s subsequent aggression against the population of Donbass, along with the total blockade of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics," the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry added that Lavrov "informed in detail about the actions taken daily as part of the special military operation to alleviate civilians’ suffering, and called on the WHO to exert influence on the Kiev regime in order to prevent it from obstructing the implementation of the measures proposed for this purpose".
