Kiev seeks prosecution against doctors, teachers in Kherson for their duties — official

However, many teachers and doctors in the Kherson Region have not given up their jobs, Deputy Head of the region’s Military-Civilian Administration Kirill Stremousov noted

SIMFEROPOL, May 16. /TASS/. Ukraine has been opening criminal cases against doctors, teachers and other professionals who continue to perform their duties in the Kherson Region upon the arrival of Russian forces, a top local official said in an interview with TASS.

"We are waiting for teachers to arrive from Crimea, so that they could help our schools adjust to Russian educational standards. Meanwhile, our teachers and doctors have been living in fear that for their duties they may find themselves under criminal prosecution," said Kirill Stremousov, Deputy Head of the region’s Military-Civilian Administration.

He confirmed that such criminal cases had already been open.

"I can say in honest that they have been opening criminal cases for any cooperation efforts <...>. You can be distributing humanitarian aid to people and get charged with state treason, which means 15 or more years in prison and have your property confiscated," Stremousov explained.

And yet, many teachers and doctors in the Kherson Region have not given up their jobs, Stremousov noted. "So, the schools are likely to open on September 1," he maintained.
