Georgian Foreign Minister to visit Brussels on May 16-18 to discuss accession to EU

The sides will review the European integration agenda, and issue related to the filling of the European Commission’s questionnaire by the Georgian side, Georgian Foreign Ministry press office announced

TBILISI, May 14. /TASS/. Georgian Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili will visit Brussels on May 16-18, where he will discuss the filled, which the republic received to open the discussion of Georgia’s accession to the EU, Georgian Foreign Ministry press office announced Saturday.

"Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili will travel to Brussels with a working visit on May 16-18 this year. He will meet with EU foreign ministers who will gather in Brussels for a EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting. During the meetings, the sides will review the European integration agenda, and issue related to the filling of the European Commission’s questionnaire by the Georgian side," the statement says.

The Foreign Minister will also discuss the current security situation in the region, the press office said.

On March 3, Georgian Prime Minister Irakliy Garibashvili filed an application to the EU to obtain a membership candidate status. In response, on April 11, the EU handed over the questionnaire to Georgia. On May 2, Georgia sent the first filled part of the document, and sent the second part on May 10.
