HAVANA, May 9. /TASS/. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro congratulated the Russian leadership and people on the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, stressing the importance of commemoration while various forces are trying to revive Nazism.
"Venezuela is marking the 77th anniversary of Victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War. We embrace the Russian people and President Vladimir Putin, the heirs of men and women, who liberated Europe and the world from the Nazi-fascist threat, which is willing to be revived," the Venezuelan leader wrote on his Twitter account.
Earlier, Caracas hosted the Immortal Regiment march. Fellow Russian nationals, the families of embassy staff of Russia, Belarus, Abkhazia, Russian missions, members of the association of graduates of Russian and Soviet universities, lawmakers of the National Assembly (unicameral parliament), representatives of the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry and other agencies, activists of the youth group of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela took part in the event.
