CHISINAU, April 27. /TASS/. The self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic is not planning to hold any referendums and such assertions are fake news reports, Transnistrian President Vadim Krasnoselsky said on Wednesday.

"I state as the head of the country: no referendums are planned in the Transnistrian Moldovan Republic. Do not react to fake news injected into the media space," Krasnoselsky said in a statement posted on his Telegram channel.

The Transnistrian president urged the republic’s residents and the international community to be attentive and careful in using information. He added that social media and some news portals had been lately inundated with allegedly official statements on his behalf and also with allegedly government directives and resolutions of the republic’s Supreme Council.

"The calls to flee the country, rally and hold referendums are lies and a provocation by those who are totally indifferent to the fate of the Transnistrian people," he stressed.

True information is posted on official websites of the Transnistrian authorities and is reported by the republic’s state media, Krasnoselsky said.

On Tuesday, the Transnistrian government dismissed as untrue the information on a referendum allegedly being prepared in the region on integration into the European Union.
