Washington believes that those officers were "members of a conspiracy" involving the use of malware

WASHINGTON, April 27. /TASS/. The US authorities has offered a reward of up to $10 million for information about six presumed Russian intelligence officers, suspected of involvement in the NotPetya virus cyberattacks in 2017, the US Department of State announced.

"The U.S. Department of State’s Rewards for Justice (RFJ) program <…> is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of any person who, while acting at the direction or under the control of a foreign government, participates in malicious cyber activities against U.S. critical infrastructure," the Department of State said in a statement.

"RFJ is seeking information on six officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU) for their role in a criminal conspiracy involving malicious cyber activities," the document says.

Washington believes that those officers were "members of a conspiracy" involving the use of malware and "other disruptive actions for the strategic benefit of Russia through unauthorized access to victim computers."

The statement claims those individuals were linked to attacks on computers in the United States and worldwide using malware known as NotPetya back in 2017. The US filed charges against those individuals in 2020.

Moscow has repeatedly rejected US claims about the involvement of Russian governmental organizations into hacker attacks against targets in US and other countries.
