Russia interested in providing assistance to Lebanon in addressing problems — Lavrov

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, Russia as a member of the UN Security Council invariably pressed for preserving the principles Lebanon’s statehood relied on

MOSCOW, April 15. /TASS/. Russia is interested in providing assistance to Lebanon in coping with the problems accumulated in recent years, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with the leader of the Christian movement Marada, Suleiman Frangieh, in Moscow on Friday

"We sincerely wish to help our Lebanese friends cope with the problems that have for years distracted you from constructive goals, from developing your country and from strengthening its security," he said.

Lavrov stressed that Russia as a member of the UN Security Council invariably pressed for preserving the principles Lebanon’s statehood relied on.

"We keep advancing these approaches at our regular contacts with representatives of Lebanon’s entire political spectrum," he added.

Lavrov stressed the important role of Lebanon’s Marada movement in establishing Lebanon’s current statehood.

"We will be interested to hear your comments and share our own opinion, which always stems from our wish to help our Lebanese friends," Lavrov said.
