WASHINGTON, April 14. /TASS/. The United States is looking at a possibility of sending a high-ranking administration official to Kiev to demonstrate support for Ukraine, the Politico reported on Wednesday citing two US officials.

According to the officials, if such a decision is passed, the visit will not be announced beforehand due to security considerations. The dates of the would-be visit have not yet been agreed, moreover, it may not take place at all - everything will depend on the situation in Ukraine, they explained.

White House spokesperson Jen Psaki said on Monday that President Biden was not planning to visit Ukraine. The current task for the United States, in her words, is to confront Russia and extend military support to Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbass republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, but aimed to demilitarize and denazify the country.

Following this step, the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom and several other countries announced sanctions against Russia individuals and legal entities.
