Armenian, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers discuss potential peace treaty
According to Ararat Mirzoyan, the existing disagreements between the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs prevent discussions on resolution of problematic issues between Yerevan and Baku
YEREVAN, April 13. /TASS/. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov discussed a potential peace treaty during a phone call Wednesday, Mirzoyan announced in the Parliament Wednesday.
"The phone call with Jeyhun Bayramov took place under initiative of the Azerbaijani side. [We] discussed a mechanism of establishment of a commission on delimitation and demarcation of the border, as well as views of both sides about potential signing of a peace treaty," he said.
According to Mirzoyan, the existing disagreements between the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs (Russia, France, the US) prevent discussions on resolution of problematic issues between Yerevan and Baku.
Previously, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that, following the talks with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the two leaders ordered their foreign ministers to begin working on a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku.
