Voter turnout at France’s presidential polls reaches 65% as of 6:00 p.m Moscow time

In 2012, the voter turnout was as high as 70%

PARIS, April 10. /TASS/. The voter turnout at Sunday’s presidential polls in France reached 65% by 5:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. Moscow time), BFM TV reported.

It is nearly 4.5 percentage points down on the voter turnout in the first round of presidential elections in 2017, when it was 69.4% at 5:00 p.m. local time. In 2012, the voter turnout was as high as 70%.

Twelve candidates have been registered to participate in the election. According to a public opinion poll by the French Institute for the Study of Public Opinion (IFOP), published on April 7, Emmanuel Macron (26.5%), the incumbent president of France, and Marine Le Pen (24%), from a far-right political party National Rally, have the highest chances to reach the runoff.
