Judiciary Republicans launch investigation into Twitter and Facebook following new reports on Hunter Biden’s laptop

WASHINGTON, April 1. /TASS/. Republican lawmakers form the US House Judiciary Committee initiated a probe against Twitter and Facebook (outlawed in Russia, owned by Meta, deemed extremist organization in Russia). The investigation was initiated over the decision made by the websites’ owners in 2020 to censor the dissemination of media publications regarding messages of Hunter Biden - son of then-presidential candidate Joe Biden.

"Judiciary Republicans launch investigation into Twitter and Facebook following new reports on Hunter Biden’s laptop," the lawmakers said in their Twitter account.

Prior to the 2020 elections, The New York Post published a material based on Hunter Biden’s confidential correspondence; according to the media, the correspondence, allegedly obtained from Hunter Biden’s laptop, indicated that he sought to use his father’s office in his own business interests. Then-presidential candidate Joe Biden claimed that Russia was involved in the dissemination of this information. Twitter and Facebook made a decision at the time to suppress the dissemination of this information under various pretexts.

In March, the New York Times published another article saying that at least some correspondence has been found genuine by the federal investigators.
