US-led sanctions against Russia boomeranging on Western nations, states Medvedev
It looks like a recession is starting in Europe, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council pointed out
MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. Western nations are getting bitten by their own policies and have begun to feel the sting of their anti-Russia sanctions because they have boomeranged, causing negative consequences, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said.
"Just a couple of weeks after the ‘hellish’ sanctions were imposed against Russia, as anticipated, they ricocheted back to the West like a boomerang," he wrote on his Telegram channel on Wednesday.
"Global inflation is on the rise. It looks like a recession is starting in Europe, which could spread to the entire world. Fuel prices are soaring at an astronomical pace," Medvedev pointed out.
"It is becoming clear that not all states are coping with this recession so successfully, despite the frenzied statements by national leaders of western countries," Deputy Chairman of the Security Council said, adding that the aftermath of previous economic crises was mainly felt by ordinary households. "Nowadays, in the West not many are convinced that ‘solidarity for a just cause’ is more important than their personal welfare. Not only are experts and media outlets saying this, but the people themselves are saying this. They join spontaneous rallies and directly address their superiors," Medvedev noted.
