PRAGUE, March 27. /TASS/. Czech authorities have frozen Russian businessmen’s assets worth millions of euro, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said on Sunday.
"We are playing a leading role in Europe in terms of the sanctions [against Russia]. We have frozen assets of Russian oligarchs to a sum of hundreds of millions of korunas (millions of euro - TASS). Assets are being frozen [in line with the decisions on sanctions," he said in an interview with the Czech television.
According to the prime minister, the government will initiate amendments to the country’s legislation to ensure smooth operation of companies linked with the blacklisted entities and individuals.
However, in his words, the issue of the nationalization of the frozen Russian property is not being looked at, as such an approach runs counter to democratic principles the Cezh Republic is guided by.
