BEIJING, March 24. /TASS/. The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is a constructive force for maintaining regional and international peace, stability and security, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming said in an interview with TASS correspondent.
"The Shanghai Cooperation Organization has been a constructive force for maintaining regional and international peace, stability and security over the years and will continue to play a more prominent and effective role," he said.
At the international level, the secretary general said, the SCO stands for adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, respect for recognized norms of international law, practice of multilateralism, creation of an equal, common, indivisible, integrated, cooperative and sustainable security concept, countering conflicts and confrontations, strengthening global and regional security and stability, and development.
"This is the basis of a new type of international relations rooted in mutual respect, justice, mutually beneficial cooperation and the promotion of building a community of humanity's common destiny," Zhang Ming pointed out. "The SCO is ready to cooperate with countries and international organizations around the world, making tireless efforts in this direction," he summarized.
