US seeking to develop bioagents targeting certain ethnic groups — defense ministry

Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said earlier that evidence of a US-financed military biological program developed in Ukraine has been revealed during Russia’s special operation in that country

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. The United States and its allies want to develop bioagents targeting various ethnic groups, Slavs in particular, chief of Russia’s radiation, chemical and biological protection force, Igor Kirillov, said on Thursday at a briefing on the results of the analysis of documents on the United States’ military biological research in Ukraine.

He noted that representatives of Western nations are very cautious about their biomaterials, however, they brought abroad a lot od blood serum samples taken from people, solely ethnic Slavs, in various parts of Ukraine.

"We can say with a high degree of probability that one of the United States’ and its allies’ task is to develop bioagents capable of targeting various ethnic groups," Kirillov said.

Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said earlier that evidence of a US-financed military biological program developed in Ukraine has been revealed during Russia’s special operation in that country. According to the spokesman, information was received from employees of Ukrainian biolaboratories that especially hazardous pathogens: plague, anthrax, cholera, tularemia and other lethal diseases infecting agents had been urgently destroyed on February 24.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation in order to protect people "who have been suffering from abuse and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories, its goals were denazification and demilitarization of that country.

When clarifying the unfolding developments, the Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure. There are no threats whatsoever to the civilian population.
