Berlin not to provide Kiev with combat aircraft — chancellor
According to Olaf Scholz, Germany provides Ukraine with financial and humanitarian assistance, and supplied defensive weapons
BERLIN, March 9. /TASS/. Providing Kiev with combat aircraft does not relate to Berlin’s efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Wednesday.
According to him, Germany provides Ukraine with financial and humanitarian assistance, and supplied defensive weapons. "We have to think carefully about what we should do, and this definitely does not include combat aircraft," Scholz said responding to questions about whether the issue of the transportation of military aircraft to Kiev by the Polish side (via the US) has been finally removed from the agenda.
On March 6, official spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Igor Konashenkov said that use of the airfield network of neighboring countries for stationing of Ukrainian combat aviation with further use against Russian Armed Forces can be viewed as engagement of these states in the armed conflict.
