Russia’s COVID-19 case tally grows by 79,863, a new low since January 26 — crisis center

The country recorded 744 deaths and 149,060 recoveries over the past 24 hours

MOSCOW, March 6. /TASS/. Russia’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 79,863 over the past day to 16,941,656, a new low since January 26, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.

The number of new cases is below 80,000 for the first time since January 26. In relative terms, the number of cases increased by 0.47%.

As many as 8,242 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Russia over the past day, 11.3% fewer than in the previous day. The number of hospitalized patients declined in 57 regions, while in 26 other regions the figure increased.

Moscow’s COVID-19 cases increased by 1,901 over the past day versus 2,060 a day earlier, reaching 2,710,941, according to the anti-coronavirus crisis center. St. Petersburg’s COVID-19 cases increased by 3,155 over the past day versus 3,481 a day earlier, reaching 1,459,350.

Patients' deaths

Russia’s COVID-19 death toll rose by 744 over the past day to 356,281.

A day earlier 750 COVID-19 deaths were registered.

The average mortality rate went down to 2.1%, according to the crisis center.

Patients' recoveries

Russia’s COVID-19 recoveries rose by 149,060 over the past day, reaching 14,567,976.

The share of patients discharged from hospitals has risen to 86% of the total number of those infected.

A day earlier some 155,725 patients recovered.
