Erdogan to make offers to Putin on organization of Russian-Ukrainian talks — spokesman

ANKARA, March 5. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to voice proposals on creating conditions for Moscow’s talks with Kiev during his phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 6, Erdogan’s spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said Saturday.
"Phone negotiations with Mr. Putin are expected tomorrow. Of course, we are talking with our allies on how to stop this war. We will voice our proposals to the Russian side on creation of conditions for it to sit down at the negotiation table. As you know, our president has very good relations with both Putin and Zelensky. Turkey is currently one of few countries who can have dialogue with both Russia and Ukraine at the same time. I will repeat our president’s words: we can reject neither Russia nor Ukraine. So we emphasize what steps can we take to put the sides at the negotiations table, but especially to convince the Russian side to do it," he said, according to TRT Haber.
Kalin also that Erdogan told Putin about Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s statement of readiness to meet with Putin in Ankara of Istanbul.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to an aid request from the Donbass republics. He underscored that Russia does not intend to occupy Ukraine; instead, the operation aims to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. After that, the US, the EU, the UK and a number of other states announced sanctions against Russian citizens and companies.
